Appearance and themes
Ultrathink lets you customise the visual experience to suit your preferences, screen size, and working environment. You can change the colour theme, adjust font size, control layout density, and fine-tune how the entries grid is displayed.
All appearance settings are found under Settings > Appearance and Settings > Display.
Theme options
The theme controls the overall colour scheme of the application.
| Theme | Description |
|---|---|
| Light | White background with dark text; best for well-lit environments |
| Dark | Dark background with light text; reduces eye strain in low light |
| Auto | Follows your operating system's preference; switches automatically when your system toggles between light and dark mode |
Changing the theme
- Open Settings > Appearance.
- Under Theme, select Light, Dark, or Auto.
- The change applies immediately across all views.
The Auto option is useful if your operating system switches themes based on the time of day. Ultrathink detects the change and updates without requiring a page reload.
Font size
You can adjust the size of the font used throughout the application.
| Size | Description |
|---|---|
| Small | Tighter text; fits more content on screen |
| Medium | Default size; balanced readability |
| Large | Bigger text; easier to read on high-resolution displays |
Changing font size
- Open Settings > Appearance.
- Under Font size, select Small, Medium, or Large.
- The change applies immediately.
Font size affects all text in the application, including the navigation, grid entries, the detail panel, and settings pages.
Density
Density controls the amount of whitespace and padding between elements.
| Density | Description |
|---|---|
| Compact | Tighter spacing; shows more entries and content on screen at once |
| Normal | Default spacing; a balanced middle ground |
| Comfortable | More whitespace between elements; a more relaxed, spacious layout |
Changing density
- Open Settings > Appearance.
- Under Density, select Compact, Normal, or Comfortable.
- The layout adjusts immediately.
Compact density pairs well with a Small font size if you want to maximise the amount of information visible without scrolling. Comfortable density works well on larger monitors where screen space is not a concern.
Display settings
Display settings control how entries appear in the main grid. These options are found under Settings > Display.
UI Density
The UI Density setting determines how many entries fit on screen and how much detail each card shows.
| UI Density | Cards per row | Details shown |
|---|---|---|
| Compact | More cards | Title, type icon, date |
| Normal | Balanced | Title, AI summary snippet, type, date |
| Bigger | Fewer cards | Title, full summary, screenshot thumbnail, metadata |
Changing UI Density
- Open Settings > Display.
- Under UI Density, choose Compact, Normal, or Bigger.
- The grid re-renders immediately.
Additional display options
| Setting | Options | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Alternate row colours | On / Off | Adds subtle zebra striping to list views, making it easier to scan rows |
| Show refresh button | On / Off | Displays a manual refresh icon in the toolbar for triggering a data reload |
| Show entry count | On / Off | Shows the total number of entries at the top of the grid |
Changing display options
- Open Settings > Display.
