Share sheet integration

The Ultrathink share extension lets you capture content from virtually any app on your iPhone. Instead of switching to the Ultrathink app, you can save web pages, photos, notes, documents, and more using the standard iOS share sheet. The content is sent directly to your knowledge base, where it is processed by AI and made searchable.

How the share sheet works

iOS includes a system-wide sharing mechanism called the share sheet. When you tap the Share button in any app, a panel slides up showing a list of apps and actions you can share to. Ultrathink adds itself to this list as a share extension, so you can save content to your knowledge base without leaving the app you are using.

Capturing content

Basic steps

  1. In any app, find the content you want to save
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an upward arrow)
  3. Scroll through the app icons and tap Ultrathink
  4. The Ultrathink share sheet opens, showing a preview of the content
  5. Add optional notes in the text field to provide context
  6. Tap Save to Ultrathink

The entry is created in your knowledge base and syncs to all your devices. AI processing begins automatically in the background, generating a summary, extracting topics, and finding relationships to your existing entries.

Adding context with notes

The notes field in the share sheet is a good place to capture your thoughts about why you are saving the content. For example:

  • "Follow up on this article for the Q3 report"
  • "Interesting approach to the caching problem we discussed"
  • "Send this to the team on Monday"

These notes are saved alongside the captured content and are searchable in the Ultrathink web app.

Supported apps

The share extension works with any app that supports the iOS share sheet. Here are some common sources:

AppWhat gets captured
SafariPage URL, title, and a preview of the web content
NotesThe text content of the selected note
FilesThe file itself (PDFs, documents, images, and other supported formats)
PhotosThe selected image or images
MailEmail content including subject line and body text
MessagesShared links or text from conversations
Twitter/XTweet content and links
YouTubeVideo URL and title

Any third-party app that implements iOS share functionality will also work with Ultrathink. If an app has a share button, you can use it to save content to your knowledge base.

Enabling the share extension

When you first install Ultrathink, the share extension may not appear in your share sheet immediately. You need to enable it and optionally reorder it for quick access.

Making Ultrathink visible in the share sheet

  1. Open any app and tap the Share button to bring up the share sheet
  2. Scroll to the end of the app icons row
  3. Tap More (the three-dot icon)
  4. In the list of available extensions, find Ultrathink
  5. Toggle the switch to ON
  6. Tap Done

Ultrathink now appears as an option whenever you use the share sheet.

Reordering for quick access

If you use Ultrathink frequently, move it closer to the beginning of the share row so it is easier to reach:

  1. Open any app and tap the Share button
  2. Scroll to the end of the app icons row and tap More
  3. Tap Edit in the top-right corner
  4. Find Ultrathink in the Favourites section (or add it there using the green + button)
  5. Use the drag handles on the right to move it to your preferred position
  6. Tap Done

After reordering, Ultrathink appears in your chosen position every time you open the share sheet.

What happens after you share

Once you tap Save to Ultrathink, the following happens:

  1. The content is saved locally on your device
  2. If you have an internet connection, it uploads immediately to your knowledge base
  3. AI processing begins automatically, which includes summarisation, topic extraction, and relationship detection
  4. The entry appears in the Ultrathink web app and any other connected devices

Sharing requires an internet connection. If you are offline, the share may fail; try again once you have connectivity.

Tips for effective sharing

  • Add notes when sharing to give future-you context about why the content mattered
  • Share from Safari for the best results with web content; Ultrathink extracts the full page
  • Share multiple pieces of content one at a time; each share creates a separate entry for easier organisation
  • Check your entries in the web app periodically to review AI-generated summaries and add topics

Troubleshooting

Ultrathink does not appear in the share sheet

  1. Follow the steps in the "Enabling the share extension" section above
  2. If Ultrathink is still not listed, close and reopen the app you are sharing from
  3. Restart your iPhone and try again
  4. If the problem persists, delete and reinstall Ultrathink from TestFlight

Share fails with an error

  • Check that your device key is still valid in the Ultrathink app settings
  • Verify you have an internet connection
  • Make sure you have enough free storage on your device
  • Try sharing a different type of content to narrow down the issue

Shared content does not appear in the web app

  • Check your internet connection on both your iPhone and the device running the web app
  • Verify your device key is valid by going to Settings in the iOS app
  • Force-close and reopen the Ultrathink app, then try sharing the content again
