The Workplan is a visual canvas for planning and organising your day. It gives you an infinite, zoomable surface where you can lay out entries as cards, draw connections between them, add sticky notes, and sketch ideas. Think of it as a digital whiteboard that is tightly integrated with your Ultrathink knowledge base.

What the Workplan does

Unlike a simple to-do list, the Workplan lets you see all of your priorities at once in a spatial layout. You can:

Adding entries to your workplan

Adding entries to your workplan

Cards are the building blocks of the Workplan. Each card represents a piece of information you want to work with during your planning session. This page covers the different card types, how to create them, what you can do with them, and how to arrange them on the canvas.

Card types

The Workplan supports three types of cards. Each serves a different purpose.

Type

Source

Description

Entry card

Your knowledge base

A card linked to a full entry in Ultrathink. Shows the entry title, type, and status. Clicking it opens the entry in the detail panel.

Quick card

Created on the canvas

A lightweight card that exists only on the Workplan. Useful for jotting down ideas, reminders, or placeholders that do not need a full entry.

Duplicate

Copied from another card

An independent copy of an existing card. Duplicates are not linked to the original, so changes to one do not affect the other. Useful when you want the same entry to appear in multiple positions or boards.

Entry cards stay in sync with your knowledge base. If you update the title or task status of the underlying entry, the card reflects those changes automatically.

Focus mode

Focus mode

When you need to concentrate on planning without distractions, focus mode strips away the surrounding interface and gives you the full screen for your Workplan canvas. This page covers how to use focus mode, along with three canvas tools that pair well with focused planning: connectors, sticky notes, and the drawing layer.

What focus mode does

Focus mode hides the sidebar navigation and other UI elements so that the Workplan canvas fills your entire screen. This is useful when:

Progress tracking

Progress tracking

The Workplan is designed to help you not only plan your work but also track its progress and review what you have accomplished. This page covers auto-save behaviour, canvas navigation, grid and snapping controls, keyboard shortcuts, common use cases, and practical tips for keeping your boards effective over time.

Auto-save behaviour

The Workplan saves your work automatically. You do not need to click a save button or worry about losing changes.
