Account and organisation

Settings > Account holds your profile, your password and your organisation. This page also explains how to get a copy of your data and how to delete your account.

Your profile

The Profile group has two rows.

RowWhat it is
Display nameYour name. It is shown on comments and on entries you share with your organisation.
EmailThe address you sign in with.

Change your display name

  1. Go to Settings > Account.
  2. Type your new name in Display name.
  3. An Unsaved changes row appears. Click Save profile.

Click Cancel in the same row to put the old name back.

Change your email address

  1. Go to Settings > Account.
  2. Type the new address in Email.
  3. A Current password row appears. Type the password you sign in with now.
  4. Click Save profile.

You sign in with the new address from then on. Save profile stays greyed out until you have typed your current password.

Your password

Change your password

  1. Go to Settings > Account.
  2. In the Password group, click Change password.
  3. Type your Current password.
  4. Type a New password, then type it again in Confirm new password.
  5. Click Update password.

A new password needs:

  • at least 8 characters;
  • a capital letter;
  • a small letter;
  • a number.

Very common passwords are turned down. A strength bar under the box shows how you are doing as you type, and the confirm row tells you if the two passwords do not match.

Forgotten your password?

Sign out, then click Forgot password? on the sign-in page. Ultrathink emails you a link to set a new one. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder.

Your organisation

Every account belongs to an organisation. When you sign up on your own, Ultrathink makes one just for you. When you sign up with an organisation invite code, you join that organisation instead.

The Organisation group shows:

  • the organisation’s name, with your role next to it;
  • everyone in the organisation, by name and email, with their role. You are marked (you).
RoleWhat it means
OwnerSet up the organisation. Can change its plan and subscription.
AdminCan change the organisation’s plan and subscription.
MemberJoined with an invite code. Can share entries with the organisation and see what others share.

What the organisation is for

  • Sharing. A work entry can be shared with your organisation from the detail panel. Members can then read it and comment on it, but only the person who saved it can change or delete it. See Sharing with your organisation.
  • Your plan. Your plan belongs to your organisation, so everyone in it has the same plan. See Plans and billing.

Joining an organisation

You join an organisation with an invite code when you create your account. Ask the organisation’s owner for a code. There is no way to join, leave or move to another organisation from Settings. If you need to, email me@cmw.email.

Getting a copy of your data

There is no export button in Ultrathink. For a copy of your data, email me@cmw.email from the address you sign in with.

On the Pro plan you can also read all your entries yourself through the API, with a device key that has API access. See API: getting started.

Deleting your account

To delete your account, email me@cmw.email from the address you sign in with and ask for it to be deleted.

Deleting an account is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes:

  • all your entries and the files you uploaded;
  • your topics, people, board columns, work plan and prompts;
  • your settings and your device keys;
  • your profile and your sign-in.

If you are the owner of an organisation, its subscription is cancelled and the organisation is deleted too.

If you are on Pro and only want to stop paying, you do not need to delete your account. Cancel your subscription instead: see Plans and billing.

Signing out

Open the Account menu at the top right and choose Sign out. Signing out also clears the copy of your entries that Ultrathink keeps on this device to open quickly.
