The tour, What's new and Help
Ultrathink has three ways to help you find your feet without leaving the app: a short guided tour, a What’s new panel that lists every release, and a Help panel you can open from any page.
The welcome card
The first time you open Ultrathink, a card called Find your way around Ultrathink offers two choices:
- Take the tour: two minutes, and it shows you where everything is.
- See what’s new: what changed in this release and the ones before it.
Click Not now to close it. You can open both again later.
After a release with changes you would notice, the same card comes back as Ultrathink has been updated, with the release title and how many changes it has.
The card remembers what you have seen in this browser only. If you use another browser or computer, it may offer the tour again.
The tour
The tour points at each part of the app in turn and explains it in a sentence or two. Nothing is saved or changed while it runs, and you can stop at any point.
| Stop | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Getting around | The sidebar, and that you can rename and reorder it in Settings |
| Capture something | The New button and N, which open quick capture on any page |
| Find anything | The search bar at the top: type to filter, # for a topic, @ for a person, Enter to ask AI search |
| Everything you have saved | Your entries, with type, topics and people; sort by clicking a heading |
| Inside an entry | The detail panel: summary, topics, people, related entries, comments |
| Your tasks | Tasks as a board, a list or a calendar |
| Plan your week | The work plan (Pro) |
| Ask your knowledge | AI search (Pro) |
| Connect your other apps | Device keys in Settings |
Some stops only appear when they apply. Free plans skip the two Pro stops, and an account with no entries yet skips the stops about entries. On a phone, the tour points at the menu button instead of the sidebar.
Moving through the tour
- Click Next or press the right arrow or Enter to go on.
- Click Back or press the left arrow to go back.
- Click Skip tour or press Esc to stop.
- The last stop has Done.
Take the tour again
- Open the account menu in the top right and choose Take the tour.
- Or open the Help panel and click Take the tour under Quick links.
What’s new
What’s new lists every release, newest first, with what changed in plain words. Each release says how many changes it has.
Open it from:
- the account menu in the top right: What’s new;
- the Help panel: What’s new under Quick links.
The Help panel
Click the question mark (Help) in the top bar to open the Help panel. It opens on the right on a computer, and over the page on a tablet or phone. Press Esc or the close button to shut it.
The panel has three tabs.
Ask
Type a question about using Ultrathink, such as “How do I capture from ChatGPT?”, and press Enter. The answer comes from these help pages, with links to the pages it used. It answers questions about the app, not about your own entries. For your entries, use AI search.
Browse
Links into these help pages, so you can read a section in full.
Use cases
Common jobs, such as saving AI conversations or keeping your topics tidy, grouped by theme. Each use case has suggested questions for the Ask tab and links to the help pages that cover it.
Quick links
At the foot of the panel:
| Link | What it does |
|---|---|
| Take the tour | Starts the tour |
| What’s new | Opens the release list |
| Shortcuts | Opens Keyboard shortcuts |
| Full docs | Opens these help pages |
| Contact | Opens the support page |
Send feedback
Click Feedback in the top bar. Type what is working, what is not, or what you would like to see, and send it.
You can also email me@cmw.email. See Contact and support.
The setup guide
New accounts with no entries also see a setup guide. It walks through the browser extension, the desktop app, a device key, making Ultrathink yours, and the AI settings on the Free plan. Every step can be skipped.
If you close the guide before finishing, an Onboarding link stays at the foot of the sidebar so you can come back to it.
