Installing the extension

The Ultrathink browser extension lets you capture web pages, screenshots, AI conversations, and selected text directly into your knowledge base. It works with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Install from the Chrome Web Store

The quickest way to get started is to install from the Chrome Web Store. Because Edge supports Chrome extensions natively, the same listing works for both browsers.

Open the Chrome Web Store in Chrome or Edge
Search for Ultrathink
Click Add to Chrome (or Add to Edge if prompted)
Confirm the permissions dialog by clicking Add extension
The Ultrathink icon appears in your browser toolbar

Pin the extension for quick access

After installation, the icon may be hidden behind the extensions menu (the jigsaw puzzle icon). Pinning it keeps the icon visible at all times.

Capturing web pages

The Ultrathink extension makes it simple to save any web page to your knowledge base. You can capture full pages, screenshots, selected text, or even all your open tabs at once.

Basic capture

To save the current page:

Navigate to the page you want to capture
Click the Ultrathink extension icon in your toolbar (or press Ctrl+Shift+4 on Windows/Linux, Cmd+Shift+4 on Mac)
The capture popup appears with auto-extracted details:
- Title: pulled from the page’s <title> tag or <h1> heading
- Type: auto-detected based on the URL (for example, “link”, “video”, or “chatgpt”)
- Notes: an empty field for your own thoughts
Add any notes you want to attach to the entry
Click Save

The entry is created immediately and sent through the AI processing pipeline for summarisation, topic extraction, and relationship mapping.

Capturing AI conversations

Ultrathink can capture full conversations from AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. The extension detects these platforms automatically and extracts the complete conversation, including individual messages and code blocks.

How auto-detection works

When you click the Ultrathink extension icon (or use the keyboard shortcut), the extension checks the current page URL against known patterns. If the URL matches one of the supported AI platforms, the extension:

Extension settings

The extension settings page lets you configure your device key, adjust capture behaviour, and manage permissions. You can access it by clicking the gear icon in the extension popup or by right-clicking the Ultrathink icon and selecting Options.

Opening the settings page

There are three ways to open the extension settings:

Click the Ultrathink icon in the toolbar, then click the gear icon in the popup
Right-click the Ultrathink icon and select Options
Go to chrome://extensions, find Ultrathink, and click Details > Extension options

Device key management

The device key is how the extension authenticates with your Ultrathink account. It replaces traditional username and password authentication.
