Moving from the work plan
What happened to your work plan boards: each one is now a canvas view of its own, with its cards, notes, labels and drawings.
The work plan was the old canvas for the entries you starred. Canvas views have taken its place: every view can now be a canvas, so you can have a board for any set of entries, not only the starred ones.
If you used the work plan, your boards have moved across for you. This page explains where they are and what changed.
Where your boards went
Each work plan board is now a view of its own, shown as a canvas:
- The view has the board’s name. If you only ever had one board and never renamed it, the view is called Work plan. Otherwise a board you never named keeps its tab’s name, such as Board 1 or Board 2.
- You will find it in the Views section of the sidebar, after any views you already had.
- It opens straight onto the canvas.
Open one from the sidebar and it looks much as the board did. The first time you open it on a device, it zooms to show the whole board.
What came across
| On the work plan | On the canvas |
|---|---|
| Entry cards | Entry cards in the same places, with any colour you gave them |
| Sticky notes | Notes, with their text and colour |
| Text labels | Text |
| Boxes and circles | Rectangles and ellipses |
| Lines and arrows you drew | Lines and arrows. They are not attached to anything, as before |
| Connectors between cards | Arrows that join the two cards and follow them when they move |
| Pen strokes | Pen strokes, behind the cards |
| Highlighter strokes | Highlighter strokes, over the cards |
| Hide completed turned on | A filter on the view that hides done entries |
These did not come across:
- Where you were looking. The zoom and position are kept on each device now, so each board starts by showing everything.
- Second copies of a card. An entry is on a board only once. Where the same entry was on a board twice, one card was kept.
- Cards for deleted entries. A card whose entry no longer existed was left out, with any connector to it.
- The board’s own grid setting. The dot grid is now one setting for every board, in Settings > Canvas.
A view of its own entries
Each moved board is a hand-picked view. It holds the entries that were on the board, and new entries do not join it by themselves.
To add more:
- Open the tray on the right edge of the canvas.
- Click Library and search for the entry.
- Drag it onto the board, or click +.
You can also paste cards in from another board, or turn a sticky note into a task with Make task. Either way, the entry joins the view.
You can change the view like any other: rename it, give it filters, clone it or delete it from the sidebar. See Canvas views.
Stars no longer place cards
On the work plan, starring an entry put it on your first board, and taking the star off removed its card.
Now a star simply marks an entry as important. It does not put the entry on any board, and taking a star off does not remove a card. To see your starred entries, filter any view by Starred. To lay them out on a canvas, make a view filtered by Starred and show it as a canvas. They wait in the tray’s New matches until you place them, for example with Place all as grid.
Links to the work plan
Old links and bookmarks to the work plan now open the first board that moved from it, or your first canvas view if none did. With no canvas view yet, the page says where the work plan went and has a Make a canvas button. The work plan’s own page and its Work plan settings page have gone. How cards look on every board is now set in Settings > Canvas.
Is anything lost?
Nothing on a board was lost apart from what is listed above. The old work plan is kept with your account but is no longer shown. Your entries are untouched: the move did not change any entry, its star or its dates.
If a board looks wrong, or something you expected is missing, contact us and say which board. See Contact and support.
